I don’t even know what to say.
I literally saw this image, and immediately decided that I wanted to comment on it…but I’m honestly without words.
Is this not the most blatantly in-your-face racist image you’ve ever seen in your life? Are you absolutely kidding me? This comic was run on page 12 of the New York Post, as well as the website.
Reverand Al Franken made this statement about the comic,
“The cartoon in today’s New York Post is troubling at best given the historic racist attacks of African-Americans as being synonymous with monkeys. One has to question whether the cartoonist is making a less than casual reference to this when in the cartoon they have police saying after shooting a chimpanzee that “Now they will have to find someone else to write the stimulus bill.”
“Being that the stimulus bill has been the first legislative victory of President Barack Obama (the first African American president) and has become synonymous with him it is not a reach to wonder are they inferring that a monkey wrote the last bill?”
ABSOLUTELY.
Ever since the election, I’m noticing that every stereotype that I’ve had about republicans is being magnified ten times over. From Rush Limbaugh claiming that he wants Obama to fail, to this comic, to this overly dramatic Fox News Sean Hannity stimulus plan montage…
If you’re gonna bitch and moan about how no one read this eleven-hundred-page bill, then why the fuck didn’t you read it yourself!? Do your job, and read the bill. Idiot.
And I love the very end, the shitty graphics and the poster saying “We’re all socialists now.” with the two different colored hands shaking. LOL blatant anti-social racist propaganda. The image of two different colored hands signifying racial equality, and it’s met with the idea of socialism. The average stupid redneck sees that and says “Yeah, socialism is bad. Send those Niggers back to Africa!”
It makes my skin crawl.
It’s all just so absolutely fucking ridiculous. How dare you, as an American, wish for our President to fail? When that last idiot stole the election twice, not one democrat wished for him to fail. Of course there was an uproar of ‘We did not vote for him”s and “He’s an idiot”s but not once did someone wish for him to fall on his ass and ruin our country. Now we have a black president and he’s not even a full month into his Presidency and republicans are being whiny little bitches about a stimulus package that will go toward actually improving our economy without putting $50,000 checks into the hands of rich white people. God forbid that a smart President takes office and actually DOES something worthwhile for our future economy rather than giving the typical fat American that instant gratification that we can’t live without.
Republicans! Shut the fuck up, get into your Fiat or your Audi and drive around for a while. Clear your mind. Within a years time, hopefully you’ll have cleared your brain enough to actually use it. You’ll realize that the past eight years we’ve accumulated a debt in the trillions due to an Iraq war which YOU SUPPORTED. And now that “monkey” or “chimp” is actually working on getting your stupid ass out of the six foot hole you’ve dug this country into. No, there is no instant gratification. What there will be, is a viable future for your children and grandchildren! An actual country that has not encountered an economic apocalypse!
But maybe if you cared about anyone else besides yourself and your bank account, then maybe you would give half of a shit about your family and your future, above and beyond the stocks and bonds you’ll leave them when you pass on. That’s probably why republicans don’t want to accept Global Warming; responsibility AND money?! Way too much stock in nuclear power and oil, so they sell their morals and ethics for the sake of keeping their (not very hard earned) money. “global warming is a farce! Wind and solar energy doesn’t work! Now drop the subject, and start building nuclear reactors so that my stock goes up and I get more money.”
